Balancing work and home

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi all

I just got my cna and my cousin is confident he can get me a job at the hospital he works at if I want one. I definitely need the money and would love the experience, but I'm also staying in school to get my RN. I'm also engaged.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips on balancing all three things at once, or if I should put off getting a job for now and just focus on school and home.

If it makes any difference on the best way to handle it, I'm pretty young, 18, and fresh out of high school (I did the nursing program at my local Career Center)

Is the CNA job available part time? What is the minimum number of hours the employer requires part time employees to work? The benefits of working in health care while going to nursing school are worth it, as long as the work hours do not interfere with study time.

It is available part time and I believe the minimum hours is 20 hours a week with 12 hour shifts. My main concern with that is I have no guarantee that I'll be working days I don't have school during my probahation period.

If it were me, I would prefer shorter part time shifts that would not interfere with school. Are their any part time dietary aide positions that have hours of work after school or on weekends?

I'm not sure, I'll look into that though. Thank you :)
