Perinatal Educator Position

Specialties Educators

Published

Hello! I am a labor & delivery nurse with 10 years experience. I recently started back to school to get my MSN because I want to be a clinical educator. Ironically, the position within my institution opened up, so I applied. At the time of my application, the requirements for the job were a BSN with a Master's Degree preferred. After I applied, the qualifications were changed to require a master's degree.

My immediate manager was ready to hire me into the position before upper management changed the requirements (based on the perinatal guidelines). She is trying to work with our director and VP of nursing to clarify the requirements.

I'm wondering if some institutions would consider a candidate who is concurrently pursuing a master's degree when a master's degree is required. What do you do out there?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Specializes in Med-Surg.

I know there are 2 instructors at my school who are currently finishing their MSN degree.
