Going for Masters:Should I change jobs to one with more hands on care??

Specialties Educators

Published

Hi everyone: Question for the group: I am presently working as a supervisor of clinical services for an assisted living. I have ten years of homecare experience. I am in a MSN (education) program, goal is to become an educator in a college setting. My question is do you think I should continue working as a supervisor or change course and get more clinical experience? I would think my focus would be education in community health if I was to teach. Do you think I would benefit more in the long run trying to get more hands on? A big part of my supervisory job is staff development for the nurses. I'm also running all the nurses mtgs, assisting the nurses with clinical issues throughout a large group of assisted living facilities and interacting with administration at the sites. Let me know what you think. I have 2 years before I graduate from school, so I have plenty of time and flexibility to work with. Thanks.
