Oncology? or Neuro?

Nurses Career Support

I just graduated with AAS and should be taking NCLEX-RN in 3-4 weeks. I have been LVN/LPN for 13 years. I have worked telemetry and med-surg and dialysis. Where I currently work, they only have one RN and she isn't leaving. So, I've applied back at the hospital I left for my current job. I have been hired, but they aren't sure where I will be. I have to have days, so that leaves the one position available on Neuro and the 2 positions available on Oncology. My old boss is now on Oncology and I just love her. The unit Mgr on Neuro is wonderful and that floor has a better "team" atmosphere and lower turnover. The work load on Oncology is tough. Team nursing with one each of Rn/Lpn/Cna 10-15 pts. Both floors want me. I'm leaning towards Oncology, but everyone I talk to, including a nurse that just left that floor, says I'm crazy. The positions must be posted in-house first, and it may be that Oncology is the only choice, but just in case I have my pick between them, what do you think?

Any input would be appreciated.
