lag time after interviews.......

So I am lucky enough to have landed interviews last week in another state...I thought they went great. It is officially 5 business days TODAY.......is that a bad sign? I have not heard a peep from them. Just sent out thank you cards yesterday. Anyone think it's been too long since the interview and the hospital isn't interested in hiring me?

I am in a similar predicament as well. I had a third interview, with the same hospital, last Tuesday and awaiting a decision. I promptly sent a thank-you note on the same day.

From my perspective, it went well (including the previous two interviews). The interview should have been 20 minutes long but lasted an hour and 20 minutes. There were other good signs which include the interviewer was selling the company to me, gave me pointers on how to be successful with the orientation program, gave me a specific timeline for the decision, and mentioned a current hospital event that may delay the managers' decision. But, of course, nothing is guaranteed until I receive that offer. I am planning to contact them tomorrow if I do not hear from them during the morning hours.

This is a second career for me and I've learned things operate differently in the health care world. Based on my previous career experience, I'm acquainted with knowing whether I made the cut within a couple of days. The wait is no fun!

Welllll I just found out I got the job. I was offered the position and accepted today. So I am sure you will get an offer very soon. What specifically was that event that may delay the decision? I got that from one of the HR ppl because another unit I interviewed for had put me on a wait list because I am a new grad and they were waiting to see if anyone ahead of me declined. But it seems that you got 3 interviews....thats great! They would not meet with you so many times if they were not interested in you. I think only something out of the managers control would affect you getting hired such as budget cuts or hiring freezes. Good luck!!! I am sure you'll get it!!!!

Congratulations!! I honestly cannot recall the exact event, but it was a significant event (inventory or similar). The interviewer (clinical educator) mentioned the nursing managers were tied up with it and therefore, the decision-making process may be delayed. So, I'm hoping this is the reason why I have not heard anything yet. Thanks for the good luck! Best wishes with your new job!
