Hi,

I currently live in Colorado and have always wanted to move back to California (haven't lived there in years and never lived in San Diego yet). I applied to Grossmont hospital in San Diego and am curious if this is a good move , especially all the financial problems in CA? I will be working in the SICU at Sharp Grossmont hospital and I am curious how good of a hospital it is, if people who work there like it, how are the docs and staff etc? Any info will help!

Thanks:wink2:

Hi! Have you started working at Grossmont? How do you like it? I have accepted a position and start the week of Feb 15th. I will be in the PCU Float pool and I am moving from Oregon. Can you answer your own ?'s for me?? Also, do you know of any safe, good apartments or townhomes in the area? I would greatly appreciate any response.

Thank you!

Hi.. Yeah I have not noticed a problem with financial issues with the hospital. No cuts in pay at all! The state itself has raised taxes 10% on income tax (what is already taxed regarding your income taxes)..supposedly they will pay us back when we file taxes...

Part of the hospital is really old and they have a new building that sicu and micu and a lot of the other floors have moved into so I think that is nice. The people are nice but it has taken me a bit longerthan normal to make friends..Everything is sooo different than CO. The people, the policies and procedures..it's a HUGE change. The docs I think are similar to other docs-not much of a change there.

A really good apt is in La Mesa called Canyon View apts..a great friend of mine lives there and so does another girl from work and they both really like it! I live in Chula Vista-Eastlake/Otay Ranch area and I like it a lot but it is 20 min away..not a bad drive though. Canyon View is 10 min from hospital. I don't know much about townhomes. It has been a huge adjustment, but it might just be the floors-I hear ech floor is diff. I think you will like it a lot once you get adjusted=)

Good Luck!

Thank you for the info! I have found a rental in Grantville that is perfect for us, I am super excited :)

Did you work in critical care in Colorado?

I appreciate your feedback and I will let you know how it goes, if you'd like :-)

Take care!
