Nurses Career Support

I would like to get my RN degree and work with pediatrics in home health care. I wonder if I will be able to get health insurance that I can keep with an agency? I cannot get private health insurance due to pre-existing conditions.

I was told that as long as you are an employee you must be accepted in a group plan that is provided by the employer even with pre existing conditions. You should verify this with potential employers at hire. You must remain aware that working for a home health agency entails hours that are not guaranteed. Your ability to maintain enough hours on a weekly basis to get your benefits (usually 28-32) is dependent upon the case load of the agency and how you fit in. One of my agencies had a system where the employee could make up out of pocket their insurance premium if for any reason they were short hours. Not all employers have this option.
