Plan to attend the 2015 American Nurses Association (ANA) Quality Conference, Feb. 4-6, 2015, at the Disney Coronado Spring Resorts in FL.

RNs will gather to focus on the front line of care

...With the theme “On the Front Line of Quality: The Future of Health Care,” ANA challenges the attendees and profession to focus on what’s next in nursing quality.

With more than 60 podium presentations and nearly 150 posters, attendees will be able to learn about topics from LEAN principles for quality improvement and real-time data to practical tools for reducing hospital-acquired conditions (HACs). Gain the latest information in proven methods and strategies that will empower your practice.

The 2015 conference also offers two engaging and in-depth pre-conferences the afternoon of Feb. 4. The first pre-conference option delves into the foundation of quality care at any organization — a healthy work environment and a patient safety culture. Beth Ulrich, EdD, RN, FACHE, FAAN, senior partner, Innovative Health Resources and professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center, and a Texas Nurses Association member, takes attendees through the components of healthy work environments and patient safety culture, the evidence of their impact on safe, quality care and strategies to assess, improve and sustain them.

The second pre-conference option tackles a persistent, but preventable health care-acquired infection:, catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Experts Diane K. Newman, DNP, FAAN BCB-PMD, adjunct professor of Urology in Surgery, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, and a Pennsylvania State Nurses Association member, and Donna Bliss, PhD, RN, FAAN, FGSA, foundation research professor, School of Nursing, University of Minnesota and a Minnesota Organization of Registered Nurses member, help attendees explore the differences in CAUTI prevention practice across the country, discuss what is driving changes, and share successful nurse-driven strategies for reducing CAUTIs. Maureen Dailey, PhD, RN, CWOCN, senior policy fellow, ANA, wraps up the session by presenting a newly developed CAUTI reduction tool that attendees can quickly implement in their environment.
