Hi co-nurses, I am so depressed n0w because of my physical problem.

I was diagnosed with scoliosis 6m0s. ago and it doesnt affect me but n0w I feel that all my dreams are devastated, nobody wants it but I'm suffering, Im afraid that I can't work as a nurse because Of medical exam. I'm also blaming my scho0l for letting me study in fact I have it, before we take a course we undergo medical including x-ray, why they did n0t told me that I have, I reviewed my x-ray 4yrs ago and I have. If I cant work as nurse why they should let me to0k the course. Help me, i was so depressed.

I have scoliosis and I'm in nursing school. It doesn't affect me in any way whatsoever. For some reason, my health assessment teachers nearly jumped out of their skin when they found out. It's really not a big deal and I couldn't understand why they were making a big deal out of it and acting like I'd endured some great suffering in my life. My classmates thought it was cool because it was something abnormal to assess. :p I showed them how my ribs are a little uneven and how one side of my body has a much more defined waist-to-hip ratio than the other side. I used to be a bit embarrassed of it when I was younger, but now I realize it's just one thing that makes me who I am and I don't think twice about showing those uneven hips in a bathing suit anymore.

So...if you just now noticed it, it can't possibly be a big deal unless it has suddenly gotten painful, which would make lifting things and being on your feet hard. But I can't see it really affecting your future career! I have no fears that someone will not employ me because I have scoliosis...I can't even see the need to mention it.

Im 48 and I was diagnosed with juvinelle arthritis at a young age. Both knees are crummy and one knee has a partial replacement. I also have spinal arthritis and scoliosis. I stay active and take OTC pain meds and get through each day with a positive attitude. Me and my 800mg IBU will begin clinicals jan 2012. :D My prayers go out to anyone who struggles daily with any kind of pain. God Bless

There are other nursing jobs aside floor nursing that don't require lifting or bending. I would get my Masters, that is something I have been thinking about. My pain from my scoliosis has gotten worse through the years not sure how much longer I can take it. Doc has also found a labral tear in my hip. I also found out I have degenerative disc as well.
