Will the California BRN really consider my re-application???

Nurses Recovery

Published

Ok my turn. In 09' got arrested for getting narcs on a fake script. Then took meds from OR at my hospital. Went to jail overnight, and then went to rehab facility. I have been clean since. But, the CA BRN caught up with me.ree Even though the case was dropped by the court since I did all that I was required to do (No record), with the law. The board was going to revoke my license. I have not done any other job for 23 years. Anyway, I was told by my lawyer to send my license back and voluntarily surrender it. I did just that, and part of the aggreement was that I could re-apply in 2 years from July. Not since this all started but since the time they signed the aggreement. My worries are that they will just say NO. Will the California BRN really consider my re-application???I was not given any other chances, like going on divertion ect. but I do understand the gravity of my mistakes. I am planning on doing my CEU's and actually keep up with my BLS, PALS, and ACLS. I also plan to do community service. I just hope these things will help in getting my license back in 2 years.

Please, if anyone has advice to give me I would appeciate it.

I would follow your attorney's directions exactly if he/she has experience with administrative law and Nursing Boards. Begin gathering documentation to prove your efforts at recovery. If your license is reinstated, you will most likely have to participate in your state's monitoring program which can be costly with the expense of random drug testing, assessments, etc. Just something to consider.

Congratulations on your recovery and best of luck to you!
