.......Or wish to close the door on it. Boy oh Boy did I want to slam that door this evening. My former employer from 2004 where I was fired for diversion bought out two more hospitals in my area. So I went to meet a clinical instructor for my BSN preceptorship and was denied due to having been fired in the past. I immediately notified my instructor who has been very supportive and stated she would get me an assignment with a non-affiliated hospital but the whole experience was still a kick in the pants. I remember watching an old movie where two men were fighting and one was taking a real beating and each time he fell down he would just get up and keep fighting - his opponent was even saying "Just stay down, why don't cha!"

Its sad that employers don't believe in second chances and go to these extreme lengths.

Venting is a good thing! It keeps us from stewing in stinkin' thinkin'.

It's a shame your former employer doesn't understand the nature of recovery and that people really can change, but what can you do? Yes, it's maddening, but there's probably some policy somewhere and this is a by-the-book kind of person. You can't change him/her, you can only change you!

Hang in there and keep fighting! That's my philosophy, too--never give up, no matter what.

Do keep fighting and moving forward. It's amazing, considering its 12 years later.

I worked for HUGE Healthcare system 16 years ago as an LPN for THREE months at a clinic that no longer exists. I didn't get along worth my supervisor at ALL so I quit without notice. I'm an RN now, 16 years later, and they still have me on the DNH list. Talk about ridiculous!

Yea the so-called "normal" world will never forgive us. ...so we must keep on. 100 will say no, but one will say yes. "nothing, but nothing happens in God's world by mistake..."...remember all the great advice you give to others on this site Hppy. You are a success...

So I got my new preceptorship assignment - It's a bit of a drive but it is at a hospital with a very good teaching reputation and one where I actually just put in an application for employment.

So I met with my preceptor today and am excited to get started on my leadership program. It's nice to walk into a place with no pre-concieved notions of who or what I am. I will keep you all posted.
