Surrendered License 3 years ago

Nurses Recovery

I have a question. I surrendered my license 3 years ago a month to date. My stipulations is that I cannot even approach the board until 2016. Long story short I was at the time unable to even think about the VRP and decided with a lot of advice from my attorney to surrender and not risk revocation. Fast forward 3 years, I am employed (not in a position that I enjoy), married, and a new mother. I am also back in graduate school for a MBA of course with a concentration in health care. So my question is with a surrendered nursing license due to disciplinary action is it possible to apply for jobs as a patient care technician or nursing assistant, or even a psych tech (I have my BA in psychology as well). I would appreciate any advice to this question. Thanks.

Oh the state is PA

Only IF you are NOT on the OIG list...if you are, you'll need to get removed first and thats no easy task!

What is the OIG list

HunnieBadger,

I checked the database after googling the meaning of OIG. I put my maiden name and my married name and nope I was not on there. I read about what it means to be put on the list. I actually self reported my addiction to a counselor that reported it to the BON. PROBABLY SAVED MY LIFE, BUT A HARD LESSON TO LEARN...Thank you for telling me this. does this mean I can apply for PCT and psych tech jobs that don't require a license.

P.S. Clean over four years now. Funny the last day I took any pain meds was the second I got a call from the Therapist that she reported me. That was the worst day of my life. I THINK THAT WAS ENOUGH, AS HAS BEEN THESE PAST 4. YEARS TO STAY CLEAN. Nothing was worth this.
