Probation and Jobs

Nurses Recovery

Published

i have been through a horrific 3 years and i am now on probation which started in april.i am an excellent nurse and was reported by kaiser for a documentaion error, falsification of documentation. i was working as a home health nurse and charted that i communicated with a physician, when in fact that physician was on leave or on vacation. i know now how utterly wrong this was ,but under all the pressure to get paperwork in on time and being harassed by management i felt i had no choice. i have been an outstanding nurse for 27 years and would never or have ever jeopardize patient safety.no harm was done. i have the typical 3 years including fees and quarterly reports with course work.with an option to petition in 22 months. in order to have my license back i have to work for 6 months at least 24 hours a week. the problem is i can't find a job. is it the economy? does anyone have any words of wisdom or know of places that will hire probationary nurse. i already know about davita and nursing homes and will look into them. or does anyone want to chat about this. support is helpful.

Right there with you sister! I "self reported" to IPN and had I know then what I know now, I NEVER would have done so. I have almost 20 years experience as an excellent nurse, but it doesn't seem to matter. None of the facilities in my area hire IPN nurses and most of the job requirements for other openings say "unrestricted license". Very frustrating! Good luck and please post when you do find something.

Never heard the term IPN..what does ot stand for and what do you mean self reported? Also what area are you in? Thanx for responding.I am having a bad day.Feeling sorry for myself.I know I am not alone.Thank Goodness.

IPN = Intervention Project for Nurses

Self Reporting = When someone has a issue/problem with drugs and/or alcohol. They call IPN to get help in a recovery program.

Not sure about the other who have commented on this, but I am in South Florida. Hope this helps answer your questions..
