Florida IPN update

Nurses Recovery

Published

Hey everyone,

So I just wanted to let everyone know about the process for me so far. I have my evaluation scheduled for August 1st. I asked my case manager with IPN about using an IPN facilitator that is not on the list and they said that under no circumstances would they accept an evaluation for anyone not on the list, that we are limited to the 3 on the list. They said any one who uses a different evaluator will have to complete the evaluation again with one of their approved from the list.

I made an appt with Healthcare Connections in Tampa, for a total of $900. My other choices are both in Gainesville. Has anyone used Healthcare Connections?

YES!!! I did my evaluation there at the beginning of May. The doctor there is AMAZING and so was the staff.

Mmm Tampa, they will recommend impatient, everyone I know that have gone there ended up with the same recommendation. They will call you to let you know what their recommendation is. DO NOT go to their treatment facility, you WILL stay more than 30 days. Request a list of ALL facilities in FL and get to work, call your insurance if you have it and give them the names of the facilities to find out which facility is covered. Then try to visit them before going, some of them are dumps and overcrowded. IM me if you want more info. Good luck

Thank you!! I am going to make some more phone calls tomorrow. My case manager tells me that the 3 facilitators they provided me with are the only 3 I get to choose from but that just doesn't seem fair, as I have come across several who perform the eval when I search online.

They pulled the same story on me, telling that what was on the list was all i had to choose from. When i got rejected from all three (they were all alcohol/drug recovery places and i was mental health) they miraculously coughed up another. of course it was that manure hole in Tampa that is devoid of any ethics whatsoever....

My issue is chronic pain due to a previous back injury. I was out of work for 6 months and turned down surgery on my spine b/c I was in my early 30's and of course have seen my fair share of failed procedures. So instead I went the pain management route. I honestly would have said I needed inpatient a year ago but I had a wake up call when I had a close call and I stopped using. I've had a couple of slip ups since then, this being one of them. I feel like in patient wont solve the problem. I need to just have the surgery and be done with it, but now I'm afraid they will just recommend inpatient, and I will still have the originating problem. I sent you a PM.

I was given the choice of 6 rehab to go to, all of which said 3+ months inpatient and we're not covered by my insurance. After I called them to tell them I couldn't afford it, they gave me permission to go to rehab in Pennsylvania (Livengrin Foundation) which only put me in for 28 days and far more affordable...all that to say, don't be afraid to tell them you need more options, they mayh just come up with some!

Unfortunately they had me cowed and I did not know any better. At that point I was still under the sadly mistaken impression that they were there to help. If I had only known.

To this day I still feel like I was railroaded by this program and the sleazy underbelly of the recovery industry into doing this so called "treatment" and subsequent contract without anyone advocating for my best interest and without any real understanding of what I was getting myself into. Informed consent problems anyone????

I know this is a little late and I am sure you have had your evaluation done. I chose Health Care Connections and although at that point I had been clean 3 years and my hair, blood and urine were all negative, they still insisted I needed 6-12 weeks of inpatient therapy. I had no money and could not afford inpatient therapy. Their response; if I present with a positive drug screen my insurance will pay for. What kind of help is that? I don't deny having a drug problem history but really....3 years clean and they insist on inpatient therapy.

I never had a positive drug screen either (or a history for that matter). I did however, have a positive wallet biopsy AKA they sniffed out the availability of straight up cash.

WOW!!! Essentially it sounds like they told you to use drugs so they could get paid. That's a new low. Recovery / Misery Pimps
