Disciplinary Action HELP!!

  1. Last year I was fired from becoming loopy due to prescription medication and was reported to the Texas BON. Hired a lawyer and got a letter from my doctor. They placed so many stipulations on my license I will never be hireable plus I don't have any experience in the area they are requiring that I work in. I let my license expired. I was thinking of going to school for dental hygienist but I'm afraid I won't be able to obtain a license becausey nursing license is jacked. Am I screwed?

You'll want to ask the people who regulate that field, I would imagine.

I agree with Sour Lemon. Hopefully the Dental Hygienist folks will be more reasonable than some of the people who run these BONs and monitoring programs. Good Luck!!!

In Texas all health care related license's are linked, searchable. Are you screwed? It's a yes and no answer. I know you'll have a lot of explaining to do. Usually once a license is revoked/cancelled then applies to other professions too. Why don't you call the board that will issue you certificate/license and hear directly from them instead of third parties

I believe you are in a pickle. I am under a Monitoring contract for nursing. I went back to school to get my master’s in substance abuse counseling. The Department of Health Professions informed me that I had to have a RN license in good standing prior to being issued a new license or even having ANY pt contact in school. I was also informed that in order to have ANY license under the DHP, that I had to remain compliant with monitoring and have my contract reflect my new work in school, etc.

I’m sorry. Maybe your state will be different...
