Anyone familiar with prescription monitoring?

Hello,

I am a senior nursing student being monitored by my board of nursing. I am nearly 2 years into my monitoring contract. I am subject to random screens, checking in with first lab, quarterly work evals, etc. I have been compliant with my board order. I have no missed check ins, no failed drug screens, I submit all forms and payments on time. For the last year I have been a CNA. I just got a new position at the same hospital as a senior student nurse extern. I have been approved by the board to start working. However, I received a document in the mail regarding prescription monitoring for 5 years. The previous 2 years, and the next 3 years. The document states that I have to get it signed in front of a notary. Is anyone familiar with this? I don't believe I am in any sort of trouble because I have done everything they have asked and I just spoke with the board of nursing on Wednesday 1/6/16. I assume the board just wants to be nosey and monitor my medications. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Most monitoring contracts that I am aware of require prescription monitoring. With the information you posted, it doesn't sound like anything unusual, and usually if there are issues the BON lets you know quickly.

When I was a student and had to go before the board they had already pulled my prescription report and nailed me to the wall for a valid prescription of Xanax. I had no idea they could even do that! From my understanding of things know, they can pretty much do whatever they want .

Well, I've done everything I've been asked to do. When I am prescribed something "mood altering", the first thing I do is notify my BON.
