Need post masters PNP online????

Specialties NP

Hi there,

Does anyone know a good post masters PNP program that is online? My google searching is not producing much and I would love to hear from anyone who earned their PNP online. I have over 11 years experience as a FNP and 17 years as RN-mostly all peds. I am thinking about taking a new route in my career. Any info would really be appreciated!

Specializes in PNP, CDE, Integrative Pain Management.

Try University of Missouri (Columbia) Sinclair School of Nursing.

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Can I ask why you're pursuing a PNP when you can see kids already?

Just curious...I'm an adult health CNS in a peds CNS program but only because I want to be able to see kids.

Thanks so much. I will definitely check out the link. I am thinking of pursuing an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner post masters and need to do as much as possible online. Ideally I want to work in a pediatric critical care or peds ED setting. The acute care program that is closest to me is about an hour away but with 5 little kids I want to explore doing as much online as possible. Thus the PNP first then just need to travel for 2 clinical courses to do the acute portion. I am only in the exploration phase at this point. While I am happy that I have my FNP from an employment perspective, it really can't get me where I specifically want to go at this point in time.

Try the University of Texas at Arlington - I believe they have a PNP and also an ACPNP online.

Specializes in NICU.

If you have time, I would love to pick your brain about NP programs. I am currently a working RN and I am trying to go back to get my masters and I am having a VERY hard time deciding whether to do PNP or FNP. I know FNP is more marketable, but I feel if I do FNP i probably will want to go back and do PNP--depending on where I can practice.

Can FNP work in a Peds outpatient office?? Where all have you worked as an FNP invovling kids, and where could you work?

Thanks for the input!! I am so confused!!

A FNP can absolutely work in outpatient pedes! I would recommend that you get the FNP over the PNP. The reason I say this is because I didn't want to work with kids, so I specialized in adults. Well, I started having problems b/c some patients had their kids with them who were sick and it was a MAJOR inconvenience for the parents to have to take their kids somewhere else. Trust me on this one, you don't want to go back to school like I did - that was a MAJOR pain.
