Graduates, students or staff -- I would like to hear real-life experiences from someone that is personally familiar this program. The SLU brochure is pretty and the website is slick but I wonder if it is worth the high tuition [nearly $900/cr hr] vs a less flashy program like University of Southern Indiana [less than $500/cr hr and fewer classes!].

Is there a website that analysizes the pass ratios of online schools so you can evaluate the potential strengths?

Any input is appreciated as I am trying to make a decision in time for application deadline for Spring 2009 semester entry.

PM me and I'll tell you all about it. In short, it's a great program and worth every penny.

I graduated from their online ANP a few years ago, and a co-worker of mine, who I precepted at the time, graduated just recently as well. I have mixed feelings about the program. It served its purpose and I'm glad I did it, however, I doubt I would choose it again. There were other students that had a much worse experience than me, and a few that had it better. Frankly, it all depends on your teachers. Some are wonderful and encouraging and others are difficult and demeaning. During residency, it seems that a handful were picked on and belittled on several occasions. No teacher ever called one of my preceptors, nor was I ever called when I precepted a student. I attempted to go back for a post-master's certificate for FNP, but the communication was so terrible, that after weeks and weeks of trying to email and call, I still never got my questions answered and just gave up. Sorry if that doesn't help you much- it was just my experience only, and I have no other online classes to compare it to. For what it is worth, I had no trouble passing the boards and I felt well prepared clinically compared to NPs who took traditional classes on campus.
