Does a Family NP "have to" see children? Re-cert question.

I am a FNP going on 15 years. For the last 5 years or so I have only worked in a practice seeing adults. I certify through ANCC.

Obviously, I have a lot of years under my belt working full-time. But, I no longer see children.

I have to re-cert. this September. Do I proceed as usual? I mean, I don't lose my FNP do I? Do I have to certify only as adult? I hope not! What if I want to see kids again someday.

Please advise. Thanks.

Nope you should be fine. I work with FNPs who do not see kids. You do have to have CME though that covers the lifespan.

I'm actually doing a post MSN FNP because I dont see kids and cant keep my peds CNS active.

Thanks. I figured as much. I mean, I believe pedi is defined as up to age 21 so technically I see a ton of people 18-21 and their parents. Grandparents. I just don't do the birth, weights, immunizations, etc.
