Hi,

I was just wondering how confident and comfortable you FNPs felt when working your first job? Thanks!

Hi,

I was just wondering how confident and comfortable you FNPs felt when working your first job? Thanks!

Well probably wished for more clinical / pharmacology time... When one is in school and clinicals there is that safety net where one can say I am a student and I have professors and preceptors to run to...

First day on the job: Here is your charts, your first patient is on his way back...

First day on the job: list of patients and 12 floors to cover to find them...

Instant time to buck up...

There is always something, some curve ball but one can either freak out (which does not help) or one can let the professional training take hold. Professional training is not about guessing or hoping its about knowing: Knowing that the particular case is within your scope of training knowledge, knowing that the case is complex and there is a need to confer, or too complex and there is a need to refer.

Confer / refer is a two way street the doctors I work with and consult with they call me and I call them the big thing is we are communicating. It helps us, it helps the patient and helping the patient is what it's all about.
