collaborating physician salary

I am anticipating the purchase of my current practice. To hire an MD to be my collaborating MD, what would be an appropriate salary?

In my state, the MD must be available at least by phone for consultation. There is no on site requirement nor chart documentation. There is the requirement of a Quality Assurance meeting, face-to-face every 6 months. Would appreciate any feed back!

Hello, saval,

That is a question to which I have no answer. Sorry.

Have you contacted any NP's in your area/state who have done this?

I would be interested in what you find out, too.

Really depends on how much you'll be using this MD. If you are experienced and can handle almost anything without a consult and just need them for their license, then $1000/month should be plenty. If you're going to use them more, you may have to pay more. You might be better off approaching it from a different angle, such as telling the MD what you want from them and asking how much they want for it.

Your state laws are in your favor. I wish mine were like that. They certainly make more sense than the stupid laws in Missouri.

$500.00 to $1,000.00 per month should be sufficient. Without chart review I would lean more > $500.00.

I suggest you move to a state that does not require any collaboration or practice agreement.

Then you wont have to pay anybody else other than yourself!
