Acute Care NP's

Specialties NP

Debating my options for nurse practitioner in acute care setting (Not ER). However, my further advancement only creates a problem if I can't find a job in the area I want.

So where are the acute care NP's finding jobs?

I would only move to: Montana, Dakotas (current residence), Minnesota, Wisconsin, Possibly Iowa or Idaho. No other states carry the same Northern Midwest culture or feel that I love. And certainly no one outside of the Dakota's makes kneolpha soup correctly!!

Specializes in Critical Care; Recovery.

My research has revealed that acnp can work in specialty practices like cardio, neuro, etc or surgery. They also can work as hospitalists. I have seen them in the icu as well. ER may be difficult because they would want you to be able to see all ages.

Oh I'm sorry, I read your post again and it seems like you meant what states are acnp able to find jobs. Not sure about the states you mentioned.

Specializes in ACNP-BC, Adult Critical Care, Cardiology.

Know an ACNP who found a job at a hospital system in Minnesota (Minneapolis). The job was with intensivists in the adult ICU. That hospital system is still actively recruiting though on another post on allnurses, sounds like they are picky with where the NP graduated from and don't hire grads of "for profit" programs.

Specializes in CTICU.

Tons of ACNP jobs here in Pittsburgh in many specialties. Great town!
