gift for new nurse manager

My daughter-in-law(a RN) just got a promotion. The best way to explain the job is that she will be managing the nurses at the facility, contacting physicians, acting as laison with patients' families, writing care plans, etc.... She works in a facility that provides non-residential care for medically fragile children, not a hospital. (I don't want to give any identifying information.) She will not be doing direct care most of the time.

I would like to get her a gift that will help her in her new job. She has been a nurse for six years and has the standard nurse stuff. I do not think she will have her own desk. Any ideas?

If I were you I would get her a subscription to a nursing journal. Nursing Management is a good one. It's on amazon.com for a $59/year fee.

Or some good leadership books like: Quantum Leadership by Tim Porter-O'Grady. This is a very helpful book for me.

Other good ones: Crucial Conversations and Crucial Confrontations.

Thank you for the ideas. The book on Crucial Conversations sounds great. I will look for that.

My boss just gave me a great leather carrying case for my business cards. I loved mine so maybe this is something she would like as well.
