Tell me about NICU nursing in NC, ?Charlotte

U.S.A. North Carolina

Specializes in Neonatal nursing (paediatric trained).

I was hoping I could get some info on my specialty and the area - anything you can tell me really.

Here's why: I'm an American, grew up in Mississippi, then Texas. I moved to the UK 6+ years ago and did my nurse training here in the UK. I trained as a child branch nurse and have been working as a staff nurse in a Level 2 NICU since September.

However, I'm thinking of moving back to the US in a year or two. My fiance is British, and after we're married we'll be able to apply for him a visa based on being married to me. He's fallen in love with the States, and I thought NC would be a good place to move, as I'm a Southern girl but thought it'd be nice for my fiance to be able to live on the East Coast without me having to leave my comfort zone in the US.

I'm about to get all my credentials evaluated to see if I can take the NCLEX or whether I'll have to do a few top-up classes first. (Please don't put this thread in the International Forum, as this is about NC.)

Anyway, I'd like to hear from nurses in NC, particularly NICU ones. I doubt there's any on here that trained in the UK, but any specialty that has would be a useful insight.

Sorry for the insanely long post! I'm all ears - please tell me what you think it'd be good for me to know!

Thank you!
