Ok...I just passed boards and will be starting in a level III NICU where everything is done including surgeries and ECMO. I purchased the newest edition of Merenstein and Gardner and am wondering what other books I should get to help me prepare for this. Also what do you guys recommend I should study up on in Merenstein?? Any help would be great, thanks.

Congratulations, Kalico!

Read thru Merenstein and Gardner at your LEISURE, and realize that much of the information will not "gel" until you have seen it in real life in the NICU.

One of the best seminars I have ever attended was presented at CMC by the (then) nurse manager. It was a review course for the neonatal nurse certification exam, and was extremely thorough. I am certain that much of this information will be included in your orientation, in the classroom sessions. So, just realize that no one expects you to arrive on your first day knowing the finer points of neonatal nursing. Enjoy your last few weeks of "freedom"!
