NICU computer charting programs

  1. Hi all,

We are the only unit in our hospital that is not doing computer charting. Apparently they have tried in the past to find a NICU program that is simple and easy to use, but came up with nothing. Those of you who use computerized charting.....what program do you use, and how do you like it? Is it simple enough to input the loads of info we get in NICU? I have heard about GE's Centricity, but have no idea how effective it is....... PLease give me your input, so I can submit any options I might find to the CUE/NM......

    Thanks!!

I have used Eclipysis/Sunrise at the last hopsital I worked at and at my current hospital. I like it a lot. It can be tailored depending on your units needs. What I like about it most is the computer can be linked to the monitor so when you click on the boxes all your vital signs pop up which is nice if you have to go back and record VS after a code or something. Most all sections have pop ups where you can just select from a list which is nice but you can also free text if there is something not on the list. We do everything in the computer, VS, I&O, treatments, assessments and notes, respiratory settings, meds, orders.

i've used both Carevue and Cerners powerchart in the NICU setting. Liked both of them a whole lot better than paper charting.

We use Carevue. It took a little bit to get used to, but now I would never go to a unit that didn't use computer charting.

Carevue, though we're supposed to be changing next year. I like Carevue-easy to use and navigate.
