New grad NICU program

Does anyone know of any states and/or hospitals that have new grad programs in the NICU? I'm in Arizona and there are NO new grad programs for NICU at all in the state. The 2 major childrens hospitals with level 3 NICUs havent hired in years. I know NICU is competitive but I am willing to move just about anywhere and I have seen some people say they're doing a new grad nicu program so please tell me where these are! Thank you!

Its hard to tell in this tough economic climate which hospitals have retained their nicu new grads programs but hospitals that I know have had new grads in nicu in the past few years include UCSD, Mary Birch, LA childrens, UCLA, childrens orange county, lucille packard childrens, uc davis childrens, seattle childrens, childrens national, st. Lukes boise, seton austin, houston childrens, basically most of the childrens hopsitals, ny presbyterian. What I did was go to US News World Report of childrens hospital, find the section on nicu's and go to the employment websites of each hospital and see when the application dates are for their new grad programs. If you're willing to do the work there are hospitals hiring new grads into the nicu. Mine just hired 8 for the summer new grad group. Good luck!!

Thank you SO much!! I am very willing to put in the work to search for jobs but its so helpful to have a place to start so i really appreciate the info!

University of Iowa is hiring new grads for NICU and PICU

I am a new grad and just got hired in the NICU. I did an unpaid internship in the NICU through the South Bay RN Transition program (which is specific to California) and then got hired. Maybe there is something you can do in your area like that? Also see if you can get your foot in the door by being a clerk in the NICU, I know new grads who got in that way. Also I would recommend volunteering in something related, like pediatrics or pregnancy centers. I volunteered at a pregnancy resource center for a year. Good Luck!

Thank you for the responses. I am currently a volunteer in postpartum at a hospital near me. Unfortunately though the hospitals arent hiring in arizona in NICU at all. A friend of mine has been a volunteer in the NICU for 2 years and knows a girl there who has been working in NICU there as a tech for a while and she cant even get a job that way. They simply arent hiring in NICU at all :( So I would definitely have to move. But I'm ok with that I kinda want to get out of Arizona anyway.

I know Providence--Alaska will open some NICU Internships next month. I think they usually have about six positions every six months.
