Applying for New Graduate Position

Hi All,

I havent posted here before, so I hope I am doing this right. I often pop on and read your threads as this is an area I find very interesting.

I a student in my last year of a bachelor of nursing degree in New Zealand and I am interested in applying for a new graduate position in NICU. In my home town, they offer two positions in the NICU area. Does anyone have any tips for me on ways I can shine in my CV and cover letter. I love the idea of working with vulnerable babies and families and have some personal experience in this area.

I have also put together my nursing philosopy, do you think that this fits with the role of a NICU nurse???

Nursing is a profession I look upon with upmost respect. Being anurse to me means empowering my patients and their families to participate intheir own healthcare. I want to work in an area which is challenging to my personalgrowth and development, where I can work with families who may be facingdifficult situations. I enjoy working inpartnership with family and am empathetic, supportive and caring. I believe therelationship between a nurse and families should be based on integrity, trustand respect. Working with families, and ensuring they are listened to, makes mefeel that I am making a difference. Iwork well in a team and believe that good communication ensures all memberswork together efficiently and effectively. I am responsible, self motivated anddedicated to the nursing profession. My nursing philosophy has developedthrough personal and professional experiences, and has inspired me to work towards a career inneonatal nursing. A field in which encompasses all aspects of my nursingphilosophy, as well as my desire to work with babies and their families.

I am also very interested in perinatal nursing (mother and baby mental health), and womens health.
