Hi Guys,

I'm currently looking in QCC's nursing program, possibly as a transfer student. I've pretty much covered all my pre-reqs classes for nursing such as ANP 1, ANP2, Microbiology, English, Psych, Chem, etc from a 4 year CUNY. I took ANP2 again to improve my grade as well as ANP 1 and Psych. Does QCC average out the higher grade and lower grade or do they just take the higher grade?

I'm not sure about how their grading works but I too was thinking about going to QCC. I currently attend Farmingdale and just started taking pre-reqs (I only have english 101). I have a friend who just graduated from nursing school at Nassau CC and I was talking to her about schools and stuff and I remember one thing she told me about Queensbrough was that unless you take most of your pre-reqs there it is practically impossible to get into their nursing school because they choose Queensborough students first - and IF they have extra seats available (which they usually dont) - then they would consider a transfer student

Hi, Current NS at Queensborough. I transferred there from LAGCC and have a BA in totally different field.. Prior to applying for the program the only classes i took at QCC were Microbiology and Human growth and Development. I applied for the evening program. QCC requires that Evening applicants complete all prereqs prior to applying. This way once they get in, the only classes they have to take are the actual nursing classes.

Even though they do require that u take all prereqs, the only classes they consider in the application process is:

AP1, ENG101, SOC101 and Psy101.(None of these classes should be repeated to improve the grade) Just like any other school they look at the grades you received in these classes. They take in consideration if u dropped any class and and took it later, If you repeated any class to improve the grade. As a transfer, where ever you took the AP1 the AP2 should have been taken at the same place. Though its not mentioned anywhere in the application process, I think its only fair for them to consider someone who took all the classes at QCC prior to considering a transfer, if both students' grades are equally competitive.

Thanks guys for your feedback...speaking of having the ANP 1 and ANP 2 taken at the same place, I actually took these courses again at a two year college. I took these classes the first time at Hunter and when taking them again, I received an A in both. Would they still even consider that and take the higher grade?

At QCC, repeating any of the prereq classes (aP1, soc100, psy100, eng101) is an automatic disqualify from applying for the program.
