NorthWell Formerly Long Island Jewish MED SURG UNIT H.E.L.P

U.S.A. New York

Hi I am looking to get hired at NorthWell Health formerly known as Long Island Jewish Hospital. I was told during my interview for the medical surgical unit that the med surg unit has a high turnover d/t the difficult of med surg nursing. If anyone has worked there or knows some reasons as to why there is such a high turnover, please let me know ??

I'm a new grad and don't want my first experience to be a bad one

I work at a different facility, but there is a high turnover on my med-surg unit as well. The main reason for most of the people that left my unit was to transfer to specialty units. A lot of nurses get a foundation in med surg then move on when they feel more comfortable. I haven't been a nurse for that long, but I see so much on my unit and am learning a lot. My passion is pediatrics, but I probably wouldn't mind staying for another year to learn more. Good luck!

I agree w/ LM NY. A lot of nurses get their start in med-surg for a good foundation from which to build. It's great to get your time in and gain experience. Northwell Health is a great system if you can get your foot in the door!
