I recently took the pharm exam during the blizzard. I guess the fact that I was earlier than my scheduled appointment and during a blizzard, I impressed them. 18 questions on medication knowledge & 2 on abbreviations. the other section was 20 questions on medication calculations. The study guide that was provided was enough to get 100% or to even pass the drug section. You do not need anything else to work out the calculations. For the medication knowledge questions, I made charts for each drug and just took the basics of each since there were more than 40 drugs to know. Knowing antidotes, which drug to use in certain cardiac arrests situations, and major side effects will get you to pass for sure.

Hi all!
I am going to take the Pharm exam for New York Hospital Queens next week and have been studying their review packet like crazy.
I'm strong in math and dosage calculations. For the drugs, I know what they are for, their classifications, and MAJOR side effects. But I have trouble recalling dosages, specific interactions, other side effects, and details such as whether or not the drug can be taken with food.
How specific are hospital pharm tests and do they commonly ask for dosages? This is my first ever hospital pharm exam, so if anyone can offer insight on the questions typically asked on such an exam, it would be highly appreciated! Thank you!!
