Apr 25, '12I know for sure that you will need a letter grade (greater or equal to C) for the micro. You should probably email the pre-health adviser about all this

Apr 25, '12Oh nooo, I am just struggling in micro but I know I am getting at least a C. But I am saying for an elective course, I wanna see if I can do Credit/ No credit. I emailed Ms. ***** about this just now. I hope she answers back, considering that she is getting a gazillion emails from other people.Last edit by Silverdragon102 on Apr 29, '12 : Reason: Names removed as per Terms of Service

Apr 25, '12For those of you who know someone currently in the nursing program/graduates of the nursing program- Would you know where most of the clinical placements are?
-
Apr 25, '12I had an elective course that was just 'credit' when I applied on nursingcas and it didn't get converted to a letter grade or effect my GPA at all. You are allowed to take classes as credit/no credit, but the pre-reqs can't be.

Apr 27, '12Hey guys congratulations!
I'm a freshman right now, incoming Sophomore, and I was wondering, do they consider your overall GPA, or just is it based on just your pre-reqs for the program?? And did you guys apply to any other nursing programs? And how is microbio/anatomy? should I take it in hunter or another school?? -
Apr 27, '12Hey,
They consider overall GPA from all schools, so if you're a transfer student you'll need to send in transcripts from all schools. I didn't apply to any other nursing programs, but I'm sure other people did. I took A&P 1 at Hunter and did TERRIBLY so I decided to take A&P 2 at BMCC, which was the smartest decision I ever made. They only take summer e-permits though so I suggest you hop on that ASAP. As for microbiology, it's pretty decent. I'm glad I didn't end up taking it elsewhere, but I'm sure other CUNY's are easier. -
Apr 28, '12I agree with payw, if possible TRY to take some of the more difficult pre-reqs such as A&P I and II at a different CUNY over the summer. Last year, I received my 'partial acceptance' to Hunter's Generic program but I received a grade of 'D' for A&P II so I did not get in. I pleaded and asked if I can be re-considered (if I retook that class and received a higher grade) but they were firm and said no.
That was a rude awakening call so I retook A&P II anyway at Lehman College during the summer session and it was easier b/c I only had to concentrate on one course and the material you were expected to know was a lot more condensed. I still had to put in effort and study everyday (there is an exam every week) but ultimately I got an 'A'. Microbiology was not so bad at Hunter but the students I met at Lehman college said they received high grades when they took microbio during the summer session. I'm finishing up my bachelors in psychology this May and I was accepted to Hunter's accelerated program!
I applied to other schools but they were for the accelerated track- LIU, SUNY Downstate, Concordia College, NYU, and Molloy College. I believe LIU, NYU, Molloy College, and College of New Rochelle offers the generic nursing programs. Best of luck!
