Considering Beth Israel, LICHSoN and other Private Schools

Hi guys! I tried searching but couldn't exactly find the answer that I'm looking for. My apologies if this sounds demanding. I'm in desperate need of nursing school for clinicals that would accept my 3.1 GPA. :banghead: I'm done with the pre-reqs after this fall semester.

I just wanted to ask those who are/were in these schools that I mentioned in the title. Beth Israel, LICHSoN, and other private schools around the NY area such as Adelphi, Molloy, CNR, LIU, and so on.

What was your G.P.A when you were accepted in the program?

How is/was your clinical experiences?

What advise would you give a struggling student who's nursing-school-hunting?

I am planning to apply for next fall 2010 and currently gathering infos about possible nursing schools that I might attend/apply. Is it a good idea to apply to a lot of nursing schools like 5-8ish? My dream is to graduate, take NCLEX and be an RN. I've been craving for that title. So, please help me. :redbeathe

Well I'm at LIU and my current GPA is 3.4 which is enough to get into the nursing program. I haven't started clinicals yet but I am considered a nursing student. The tuition price is pretty steep at about 25K+ a year and the tuition rises. You would get into the nursing program with a 3.1 HOWEVER, there is no guarantee that they will take all of your credits and for LIU's nursing program you have to have all college requirements done, not just nursing pre-reqs. LIU has a lot of college requirements, some that most schools don't have so there might be a chance you don't have them all which would require you to do an extra semester or so. Your GPA is no problem, but you'd have to finish LIU's requirements before getting into their program and taking the HESI A2 exam.

Also there are differences between the schoold you've mentioned. LICHSON and Beth Isreal are only for your Associate's while LIU and Adelphi are for Bachelor's degrees. So it would depend on how many classes you have done. If you've only got the nursing pre-reqs, your best bet might be one of the ADN programs.

I've been looking at LIU's curriculum and indeed, they have A LOT of requirements. I am mainly looking for schools with ADN, however I would take BSN if the school with that program accepts me. I've been stucked in a CUNY school for 2 years and need to get out of here.
