Hi Fatima,

I am currently enrolled in the MSN program at Monmouth University (West Long Branch, NJ) My alma maters are: 1977 Muhlenberg Hospital School of Nursing in Plainfield, NJ (AAS from Union College....concurrent degree program) Took a year off and worked full time......then I spent 6 years at Rutgers University (Newark) to get the BS degree in Nursing....finished in 1984. If you go to school forever, it gets real confusing on your resume for people to try to figure out how old you are!:rotfl:

rnmaven,

LOL...that's funny....lol. If I choose to attend Trinitas, I want to transfer to Rutgers to earn my BSN. I haven't decided yet though if I'll take a year off like you did or work part-time and school part-time. With a husband and 4 children...it's going to be pretty rough and I look forward to contributing to the family finances. Ultimately I want to earn my MSN, and become a Neo-natal nurse practitioner (at least for now...I"m learning new things every day about nursing....you can do a myriad of things)

Fatima,

If you go the Trinitas route I believe that you can then pick up at Kean College and do their accelerated program and finish with an MSN in something like 3 years....don't quote me, but I believe they are making it possible to transition alot easier than Rutgers did for me! Monmouth also offers a program where you bridge BSN to MSN at the same time. They offer NP programs. It's expensive but the professors are very understanding of all the juggling we do in our lives with work, school, etc.

Good luck!

HI,

Have you started the accelerated BSN @ UMDNJ? If so, howz the program there?

I want to go to UMDNJ's accelerated program too. Wondering if its a good idea, seeing how much cheaper community college is. But I'm going to an information session this thursday after memorial day on the newark campus to ask questions.

and I've been accepted into the September 2004 nursing program at Essex County College. I am soooooo happy!!!! I've been on cloud 9 all day. I have also been accepted into the nursing program at Trinitas. Although it's a great program I would much rather attend my CC's nursing program..it's more affordable. :) . All of a sudden I've became very nervous and anxious. I have a lot of planning to do...menus to plan....supplies to buy...and the books for the first semester cost $800.... :uhoh3:

Hi rnmarven,

Did you go to Monomuth University for the MSN? I am trying to reach someone that attend/attended the MSN program at Monmouth. If you did, can you pm me or reply this post? Thanks

Yes I did receive my MSN from Monmouth. What can I help you with? What other programs are you considering and what "track" are you considering?

rnmarven,

Thanks for the reply.

I am also considering TCNJ and William Paterson for the FNP option of the MSN. My major problems are $$$$ and distance (I live about 1 hr away). However, I willing to try a Monmouth ( i'm starting this summer) for several reasons not stated here. Some questions...Do you know

i. if classes are offered year round? I know some schools offer classes once a year so if you miss a class, you risk being in school for a while.

ii. what portion of the classes are online?

iii. how flexible MU is with preceptor sites (and other aspects of the program) and where most of the preceptor sites are located?

iv. if you got any help financing your education apart from loans.

I hope you don't mind that i'm bothering you with all these questions. I feel like I need to get a fresh and honest perspective. Thanks again!
