I have not been to Stratford. But, Newark lol, I'm always in the library and feel pretty safe in there. I've signed up for the Alerts via text and it's the usual shooting, attempted robberies. No UMDNJ students or personnel has been hurt. You're only there for 15 months, just walk in groups if you're going to hang out late.

Yes, the program is intense, but doable. First semester, you don't chose clinical sites. It's usually up to 1 hour. The Stratford and Newark campus has the exact same curriculum.

Thank you so much @glad2basn. Could you please also tell me the passing grade in the program? I spoke to one of the advisers and she told me the passing grade is 80 which is a B. However, if you get two c's, you get kicked out of the program but I thought the passing grade is a C+ so I don't know where the B is coming from. Could you please help me understand it better? Thank you so much

The passing grade is a 75-C. If you get a 74 in any class as your final grade, you essentially fail that class. However, you don't get kicked out yet. You just have to repeat that class and your graduation date gets pushed back by another 3 months. Now, if you fail a second class, you then fail out of the entire program.

I remember when I went to UMDNJ's Information Session in 2009, I was told the passing grade was a B too and that you get kicked out if you don't pass your classes with a B. Well, obviously it isn't true. The advisor is out of touch with the grading scale there.

    Hey Glad2,

Thanks for responding back. I think the advisors just purposely tell students that just to prevent students from aiming for a 75 in every class . However, Gpa also counts so they tell students 80 just to aim high. But even though a 75 is the passing grade, you still need to maintain a certain gpa throughout the program right?

No, you need to pass each class with a minimum of 75. That's it. The only person who should care about your GPA is you, especially if you want to go on to Grad School.

hey Glad I have another question sorry to bother you. Are some of the courses in the program offered online? I honestly think some of the courses are so unecessary especially gerontology because it's all part of adult health and courses like informatics, policy and politics in healthcare, health promotion, just so unecessary Lol. Also, for the fall semester, was the courses breaking down into 2 sections within the semester? Let's say you take 3 classes in 7 weeks, and the rest in another weeks or all 5 courses are completed at one time within the full semester?

Some days your classes are online, but for the most part they are in class. Gerontology is needed, because that population is large. I'm not following what your asking for the Fall semester. The courses are not broken up into sections, you take them for the full 12 weeks.

    Hi Glad2baSN,

How far along are you in the program?? Have you had classes/clinicals 5 days a week yet, or has it been mostly 3 days a week?

I'm in my second semester. If you have questions regarding schedules please go here:
    http://sn.umdnj.edu/studentsonly/index.html
Under "Schedules and calendars" on the left hand side you'll see Accel. BSN schedule, click on either Newark or Stratford.

If you're interested in UMDNJ, I would encourage you to start exploring their website first. It may answer some of your questions. If you don't find some of the answers there, I may be able to help.

wow, that really helps.. thanks for the info... it helps a lot more to talk to a current student than to talk to an admin person.
