Hello everyone!

I've just searched the boards and have not found much on RVCC... I'm currently finishing my pre-reqs to get on their waiting list.. I'm currently on the Dean's list with a 4.0GPA, and hope to be in the program in the Fall of '09....Until then I figure I will take some courses to go towards a 4-year degree..

Is Fall 09 entrance a reasonable expectation? Has anyone else here attended RV? What were your experiences? It seems to be a good program, and although the waiting list is a pain, I've found no other school as economical..

My complaint of the school so far is the lack resources to prospective nursing students.. The College advisors know nothing of the Nursing program..so what are advisors for anyway?:banghead:

Also, the Nursing Department has not been clear about the waiting list.. I applied to the General College last fall, and when I did so, checked off the Nursing Day program.. Since then I've realized I may need to switch to nights due to financial obligations.. When I went to make the change, I was told I would lose my spot as a fall 07 applicant and get pushed back now that its 9 months later.. How can they expect people to know they're schedules YEARS ahead of time??

Anyway, other than that I'm anxious to get in a program and finish already.. So any thoughts on the RV experience? Good, bad, so-so?

Any other schools that are well-liked by their students? Although I wish money was not an issue, of course it is, so I'm looking for something not incredibly straining on my pocket..

Thanks in advance!!:D:bow:

bump..

So has no one attended RV? I can't believe it.. Is there anyone that can give some input? It would be much appreciated..

Thanks:cool:

I havent but I am planning on it! If things work out the way I plan I want to start my pre req in Jan 09. I do have a cousin that goes there and she is also on the deans list I know the waiting list is a pain. I was wondering how do they determine who gets accepted is it a lottery or do they take the students with the highest GPA once you finish your pre req?

I just enrolled at RVCC yesterday and hope to begin my pre-req's this fall... this how the waiting list was explained to me:

besides the basic requirements, I.E. GPA, prereq's,BLS-1,etc... students are awarded points. The points are based in part off your GPA, in part on your score on the TEAS test(s), and a couple other factors. Those with the most points get the seats in the program. There are 90 seats in the day program and 30 for the nights/weekend program.

The advisor I talked to yesterday said this points system has JUST been structured, and all she could do was give me a photo-copy of the paperwork she had concerning it... hope this helped...

- i got in by way of the LPN to RN bridge - its faster and easier than getting into the program from scratch..

- i think its a great school and i had a great experience there. the instructors were wonderful, in my opinion (and ive had 13 years worth of different types of instructors).. very helpful, nurturing, and they really do want you to do well..

- only complaint was my inability to initially receive communication from them prior to classes starting.. i was accepted but then i sat around for months with my thumb up my @$$ waiting for some form of communication in response to my numerous emails, calls, and phone messages.. i had to cancel my flight to paris (booked months ahead, suitcase ready to go) literally 2 hours before it departed because they finally decided to contact me regarding orientation (snowstorm reschedule).. after leaving numerous messages and actually going to the school to post notes on office doors..

- once classes started, it was smooth sailing.. great school..
