Georgian Court accelerated nursing program

U.S.A. New Jersey

Hi Everyone!

I am interested in Applying to the Georgian accelerated program for Fall 2014. I have a cumulative GPA of a 2.4. I could not find a gpa requirement on their website. Does anyone know if/what their requirement is? I know you need at least a C in the pre-requisites. Also, I has anyone been admitted with a GPA below a 2.5? I have A's in my pre-requisites and hoping that plus great recommendation letters would help. Has anyone heard of anyone being accepted with a low GPA? Does anyone have experience with this or any advice they could recommend? I am wondering if I even have a chance.

Thanks!!

Jaclyn

Most ABSN programs are highly competitive, as in 3.5 GPA or higher Some schools include your pre-req grades in addition to your GPA from your previous degree. There is not a shortage of new grad nurses despite what the media claims but that does not stop the high volume of applicants for a the finite number of seats in a nursing program. The more competitive your application the better. I've found most schools no longer list a minimum GPA as they look at what else you have done. If you graduated in 1995 with a 2.4 but took your nursing pre- req's in 2012, 2012 and have a 3.8/4.0 in the more recent courses that can be to your advantage.

FYI I saw you inquiring in the international forum, ABSN is rather unique to the US. Plus if you wish to work in the US it's best to be educated in the US.

I recently look at their website out of curiosity because they only recently became accredited, and I believe it is quite competitive, at least a 3.0, as they don't have enough seats to take all the applicants, like most nursing programs. You should try a good community college, as there is no GPA requirements.

I am currently in the GCU program I am in my first semester. It is very competitive and you NEED to have a over all GPA of a 3.0 or higher each semester (not just in nursing courses in any other courses you are taking along with it ). Also they require you to have a 77 + test average for each nursing class. Even if you do great on other course assignments and have a B and you have a 76 test average you will fail the course... You are aloud to fail 1 nursing course and re take, any other failures you will be kicked out... It is rough ...but I understand why it is the way it is.

Good luck !!
