OK... To make a long story long ():

I had applied to Rutgers University's College of Nursing about a year ago with a 3.85 GPA from a Community College (Pre-Nursing)...and was Not accepted, however was accepted into The School of Arts and Sciences, where I had shortly thereafter accepted enrollment.( New Brunswick Campus ).

While on my way to completing the requirements for Physician's Assistant, and majoring in Psychology... I still feel more passionate about my original decision to pursue Nursing.

My GPA is a 3.79. I've taken this past semester Chemistry of Life ("Organic Biochem"--on the RCN website), and Pathophysiology.. (Prior I had taken AP I/II, Micro, Intro to Inorganic and Organic Chem, Psych 1, Lifespan, Sociology 1., Human Bio, English 1, History, and a bunch of the other requirements...)

My understanding is that I must await the period between June 1 and June 30 for a decision. A bunch of my friends have decided to go the accelerated route in a couple of years, as they are concerned about being accepted into the program.

I guess the only thing that I CAN do at this point is study, remain busy, hopeful, and realistic.. I've heard such great things about this program.

Does anyone have any suggestions other than to chill out and wait? Is anyone in the same position right now?

If nursing is where your passion is, then go for it. You don't want to play the "what if.." game. Wait to hear while taking your major course requirements in the meantime. If you don't get in, then you can do what you're friends decided to do. If you get in, then you find yourself closer to obtaining your dream.

Thank you so much! Really helpful... just a long journey to get to where I want to go. That was so nice for you to respond.

I don't know if you can also try to apply to other BSN programs? Rutgers is competitive and I know other schools are as well, but I would maximize my chances in this situation.

Good luck!

Thanks for your advice! I've just looked at all of the accelerated programs in my area, including the one here at Rutgers, which I'll begin applying to if I don't get accepted into the regular track. After going through a major transfer to Rutgers last Fall, It's probably best to complete my BA here and then do my best to begin applying to an accelerated as you had suggested.

Either way... I see what you mean about not playing the "what if" game-- I've been riding this multi-directional path for a while and it's grown frustrating and anxiety provoking, and although it leaves some options open, it can veer off into an unfocused and murky area.

Should know within a few weeks-- (If you knew me, you would laugh-- I am the most impatient person in the world...something I need to work on). Thanks again and again!
