Admissions for ABSN... Males?

Does anyone know whether or not there would be any special consideration for men who are applying for ABSN programs (SHU, NJCU, etc.)?

I'm reading all these posts and I'm registered for *another* semester at Brookdale Community College for the last pre-req's. Many of these posts mention the wait-list status for SHU and NJCU programs (and their respective schools).

I'm looking to get into one of these schools in 2012, I graduated with my first BSA (Communications) in 2003. I know these schools require completion of pre-req's within the last 10 years and if I'm wait listed, I'm on the border.

I have many relatives in the field and they all say that there is an elevated need for Male Nurses. I hope that may work in my favor for admission because I'd rather not wait for another 2 years to BEGIN the ABSN. I'd rather not have to play the gender card, I'm getting straight A's on my pre-req's and I'm dedicated to the new career. But if being a guy helps, then it helps. And if we're needed, then I'll be there.

Hope someone knows...

Thanks!

As far as I know, I dont think there is special consideration and the programs don't consider the sex of the applicant. What matters is the undergrad GPA, pre-reqs grades, recommendations etc,. Good luck!
