I am planning on applying to UNLV 16 month BSN program for Fall 2011 but lately I've heard its super hard and cut-throat, more so than at surrounding schools...I don't want to set myself up for failure. I have a family and I work but plan on quitting work when the program starts. I really need to hear from people who are in the program or who made it through without dying or losing your sanity. Good and bad stories, advice, opinions appreciated.

Vegasmomma,

I am in my final 4 weeks of UNLV's BSN program! I can't compare to other schools, UNLV has been intense- but obviously not impossible. You're doing the right thing by NOT working, especially since you have a family like I do. It WILL take all of your time, you WON'T see your family for at least the first 6 months, but you will also pass the NCLEX and be trained as an awesome nurse! UNLV has earned their tough reputation and the BEST NCLEX pass rate in town. You can do it!

Thank you so much Megameg for your boost of encouragement. I do want the best education possible. Congrats on almost being finished! I may hit you up for more info when I begin the program.

Specializes in IMC.

UNLV is probably the hardest program in Las Vegas, but it also has a well earned reputation for putting out the best nurses. The idea is if you can survive UNLV you can survive anywhere.

And congrats megameg, I'm in my final 4 weeks of my first semester. Good luck!

but UNLV has bad parking :)

dude...you need to calm down on the propaganda for UNLV there is only one school that has the ability to boast the quality of their students...and that was appollo because they just pumped out crap.
