I am currently a RN in North Dakota-with plans to move to Vegas in the summer of 08-does anyone know how long it takes to get a license in that state-I have the paper work but not sent off yet-figure I have plenty of time????

I don't know how long it takes, but here's a link where you can call and ask them.

I'm considering taking on a travel job there. Maybe we'll run into each other sometime.

The process takes a while. The longest part is the fingerprint/ background check. I've heard of some cases taking up to 6 months (esp. if they decide there's something wrong with your prints and make you re-do them). I moved to Vegas from MN, and turned in my fingerprints/ paperwork in a November. I had my TEMPORARY license by the end of January, but my permanent took until March to receive due to the fingerprint wait. So my fingerprints, which were deemed "acceptable", took 5 months to process. Were I you, I'd turn in everything a good 6 months prior to moving just to be safe.

i applied for license by endorsement in nevada (i am licensed in california), it only took 3 weeks to get my temporary RN license and 6 weeks to get my permanent license.

Hi SCRN1-have you found that travel nursing job in Vegas Yet? Just cutious-maybe I will look into that too when I get down there-

I have been in Las Vegas for 3 years. I have 22 years of RN experience, but no current license written on my resume and every time I use Careerbuilders and Monsterjobs, I get tons of calls and emails from RN travel agencies. Shouldn't be too hard, there is a shortage here.

Hi kookie31,

are we allowed to endorse right after we pass the nclex? or do you have to wait for a job offer from the state in which you want to work?

Thanx :)

Hi EFAN,

once you get your permanent license in the state you applied, thats the time you can apply for license by endorsement in another state. i had to wait for my license in california to be issued to me bec i need to have it photocopied and notarized, as one of the requirements by the nevada state board along with other requirements. you dont have to have a job offer to apply.

Hi-to you all from North Dakota-I just looked on-line and received my temp RN license for Nevada-just waiting on the fingerprinting to go thru I guess-I plan to move in the spring and I do go to Vegas every month for 4 days or so now. Can't wait to get down there and start working-I live close to MountainView Hospital-any thoughts from anyone or suggestions? I need all the help and info possible. Does anyone think I should start the application process now for MountainView? How long does it take to get a job-I am not a new nurse-been nursing for lots of years-
