Current Students At Roseman

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

Hi,

I am considering applying to Roseman. I live in California, in the Bay Area and I have elementary and middle school age kids.

I've read all the posts about the Accelerated BSN program. The reviews concern me - so many students reporting that they are under so much pressure. Most concerning is the fail rate.

However, looking at the massive number of applicants for local programs, I don't think I have much hope of getting into a program in my home area. Also, it would take much longer to complete the program locally. I also like the idea of the block classes. I always do well with one subject at a time. I'm a fairly good test taker and I would plan to take a medical terminology class before starting the program.

I would like to know what current students in the Accelerated program think of the program. Has the program become more organized? Are the tests more fair, more consistent?

I would probably prefer the 18 month program, but I can not move my family to Las Vegas at this time. So, I am considering the 14 month program.

So, I have a few more questions:

Can I do this with children in another state? My plan would be to fly home Friday and return Mondays. Would this plan be feasible?

Can I do this with children period?

Thanks for any feedback. I need to consider my options carefully.

You haven't gotten any feedback yet so I thought I'd try to help; however, I am not in the accelerated/14-month program, I am in the 18-month program. I think there is still a fairly high attrition rate, but the ABSN program starts every few months so you don't have to wait too long to hop in if you fail out.

It may be feasible if you never fail a test. As far as I know, the ABSN program conducts their tests on Fridays and remediations the following Monday, so you have the weekend to study for the remediation test. You could study while you're back home, but that might be hard.

Also, while you are in clinicals you would have to structure your flights around that. You do not get to pick your clinical days and you can have clinicals on weekends.

You can if you put your mind to it! There are definitely parents in both my program and the ABSN program. School is going to have to come first in many situations though. I would also ask you to consider the 18-month program and utilizing every break you have to fly back to your family. The 18-month program gets more breaks and "vacations" than the ABSN does.
