ordered response

Nursing Students NCLEX

hi nurses! i will just ask if u encountered ordered response questions on ur exam? im too anxious my exam date is getting near :/

I am a bit frustrated about this too. In my studies the last few months, I have answered thousands of practice questions using the Saunders and the Kaplan QBank, and a couple others. I have seen around 40 different ordered response questions, and I've only ever gotten ONE of them correct (It was about a burn patient and only had 4 options to put in order). I am kind of frustrated. I will usually get the first, second, and the last one correct. But it's numbers 3,4,5 that I ALWAYS miss because, in my opinion, the order is really irrelevant. For example, why does it matter if you:

FIRST warm the irrigation solution to 98

THEN select the proper size syringe for the ear canal

THEN have the patient sit upright and pull the ear up and back

rather than having getting the equipment and THEN warming the solution??

all of the ordered response questions are this ridiculous, its like a guaranteed wrong answer if I see this on my test.

ABG_LING_68, I'm reviving this super old thread because I have the same frustration with Kaplan drag and drops. Were they similarly arbitrary on the NCLEX, or did they stick to prioritizing / procedural questions where the exact order of operations actually matters? Or did you find a trick that made those frustrating Kaplan questions make sense?
