I took my NCLEX PN exam today. When I came to the testing center, the ladies working there told me to take a number and wait until my number is called. When they called my number, they asked me for my driver's license and they took my picture. Also, they told me to put my personal belongings into a locker, which I did. After that, I was seated and I started my exam. After two hours, the computer offered me a regular break, which I took. At that time I was on question 79-80. I had to go to the bathroom and get a drink of water. I took my purse from the locker and went to the bathroom. I was back in about 3 minutes. I returned my purse to the locker and finished the exam in about 5 minutes because the computer shut off at the 85th question. When I was leaving, the lady who works there told me they had to file an incident report because I broke the exam rules when I took my purse with me during the break. She said that the exam instructions and rules were given to me before the exam and in them I was notified that I am not allowed to take my personal belongings during the break. I was never given the instructions nor was I asked if I understood them like I was supposed to. I did not even know there were any. If I had known these rules I would have never broken them or jeopardized my exam. Also, if I had known that my computer was going to shut off at the question 85, I would have waited until the end to use the restroom and get a drink. I asked the ladies to please check the cameras in the waiting room so they can see that I was never given the instructions and rules for this exam. They said that only the corporate office can check the cameras. I am truly sorry about all this and I was crying all the way home.
Are they going to void my test? Did anybody have this experience?
Thank you so much!
