Looking for help on which school to go with

Hello,

I'm am looking for some help. I just registered for this site tonight but have been reading and getting advice for the past couple of weeks. I'm looking for advice on which schools in the St. Louis area have a good BSN program. I already have my degree in Communications from WIU and have been working in Human Resources for the past 6 years. I have decided to go back to school to become a nurse. YEAH!!! Since I already have a degree I would like to attend a college where I just need to complete any general education classes that don't transfer as well as the nursing courses. I'm am visiting with UMSL on Monday and looking forward to that. I also have an apt at STLCC to possibly get my ADN instead and attend a community college. The wait is just so long I don't know what to do. I would love to hear from anyone who has been in my position or anyone who would like to comment on where they went to school to help me decide where else I should make an apt.

First: educate yourself on the programs and options available in your situation.

I had a bachelor's in business. I chose to go the ADN route for financial and time reasons. I had the option of an accelerated BSN program, but to be honest, I just wasn't up for killing myself and not having a life for the 15-18 months of the programs. That was my choice and I'm not sorry I made it at this point.

As for "good" programs in the STL area? I don't know that there's one "best"; we are blessed with having many great options here. No program sounds like it's perfect, but SLU, UMSL, Maryville, etc. all have BSN programs that seem to be pretty-well respected and with employed graduates!! Each person's experience will be different and based on their personal perceptions....

Make sure they're accredited, fit your financial and family needs, and then go for it!! Best wishes!!
