U.S.A. Missouri

I am an LPN wanting to do the ISU LPN - BSN route but am having a hard time getting motivated. I am looking for someone that is currently in the program here or wanting to start it. I am hoping we can support each other and keep each other motivated. I don't have any pre-reqs yet and am starting the CLEP track right now.

Hi,

I'm an LPN doing Excelsior in St. Louis area-would love to chat. I posted trying to find folks doing the same here in MO: https://allnurses.com/forums/f157/any-excelsior-folks-mo-333384.html#post3109759

Have you specifically checked with the BON to see if they accept EC? I have been considering that as well, but it makes me a little nervous because of all of the talk about some states not allowing endorsement because of the lack of clinicals. I know that my last conversation with the BON, they said yes, I could. It sounds like you're almost done. Are you going to do the A&P through EC? It's my understanding that they include the lab component. Sorry for all of the questions, but I haven't found anyone specifically from MO that has done either one of the programs and I'm excited to have someone to talk with near me. LOL:typing

Hey, I'm happy someone's here in MO too! As far as MO BON, they do accept Excelsior. I'm not sure I'm doing A and P through them yet as I only need an additional 2 credits and may be able to do this online somewhere else, their exam covers both I and II for 6 credits- I can only imagine how that exam is! So far, I like it, I've moved through very quickly (started in August). When I was making the decision, I just took the first nursing exam (Safety) without studying at all before enrolling (you have to pay an enrollment fee of $895)- I got a B- I did not even look at the outline, and, at that point, I decided to go ahead and enroll. I am worried about the CPNE (one BIG clinical final), but I am going to go to a workshop and have practice supplies at home- hoping to find someone in area who would like to practice as well- I've been on the Management side awhile and need to brush up the clinical skills for sure! If you decide to go that route, I have lots of good study materials. PM me for more questions-maybe we could talk on phone. PS- I have lots of A and P stuff also.

Forgot to say- don't worry about the CLEPS- I took these exams quite awhile back- the cost is pretty low- just go take one- if you fail you know what you need to study- if you do OK on a practice exam-just go take the test-you'd be surprised! There are also DANTES (easy) and Ohio University exams (easier than CLEP). I did all of these routes for credits for BS- only failed one without study.
