Any Advice on Pathophysiology & Applies Pharmacology taken Together!!!

Hello, like many others I've been accepted into nursing school for the upcoming fall semester:yeah: I'm very excited and nervous all at the same time.. The school Ive been accepted to is St. Luke's College of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Mo. So far so good Ive heard nothing but great things about them but I'm a bit worried about a class that I have to take this fall, Pathophysiology & Applies Pharmacology I. I think whats getting to me the most is the fact that these two classes of what I thought were suppose to be taken separate are combined together as one!! Is there anyone with any advice on how to prepare myself over the summer for this class and help me get through it through the fall?? I usually catch on to just about anything but this class is scaring me already and I just started my summer break!! Any advice will greatly appreciated..Thanks!!

Oh and if there any previous students or current students that were/are in Kansas City's St. Luke's College of Health Sciences for their nursing program any extra advice, tips or just simple information on the school would greatly appreciated!!

I took both together here in st. Louis, I did well, I loved patho, but did better in pharmafuntimes, all I can tell your is seek out help if you start to struggle early on, attend any extra peer Tudor sessions, but if you enjoyed your ap 1&2 and microbio should be fine:)

Hi, I was wondering if you have any advice or tips, I was just accepted and I am so excited yet so nervous. What do you think I should do in these months before the semester starts? What are the class and clinical hours like? Any info/input is greatly appreciated!!!!!

Honestly, I didn't (and still WOULDN'T even after going through the experience) study a thing in preparation Take these last few months of freedom you have an enjoy it!! I am a student at St. Luke's (2nd semester) and I promise they well review all the info you need to be successful.

My opinion of Patho/Pharm... It tough. However, I actually liked having them in combination because it makes the application of pharmacology more understandable. When you take about cardio problems, its only natural to talk about solutions to those problems which is what you will get when the class is combined. The thing I didn't like about how the school sets that class up is that the patho is taught in class and pharm is online...so you're pretty much on your own there. The thing is though, pharm is basically memorization.. you must know the drug, its uses, contraindications side effects, interactions etc.. You really don't need lecture for that. However, if you're an auditory learner this could be negative. I finished it with an A, as did several of my classmates .. about 45/96 to be exact. I don't believe anyone actually failed the class, so that should give you some encouragement.
