Admissions to UMSL nursing school

U.S.A. Missouri

I applied for both the Traditional BSN program as well as the Accelerated Track program at UMSL for the upcoming semesters of 2008, and I was curious if anyone else on here has as well....I am anxiously awaiting a letter regarding rejection or acceptance...the advisor I talked to told me "I had nothing to worry about", but its hard not to worry when I was also told they are only accepting 30-40 for the Traditional program, and about 40 for the Accelerated program. Also, there are at least 110 applicants for the Traditional program and at least 70 for the Accelerated program...I keep running the numbers through my head and stressing out! I have a 3.8 in my science pre-requisites (Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2, Microbiology, and Chemistry)...and overall I have a 3.53, so I'm not so sure thats good enough! :uhoh3:

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I'm in my second semester of the traditional program at UMSL, and my GPAs (especially science GPA) on admission were WAY lower than yours. Good luck!

Thanks! Can I ask how long it took them to respond to your application ...concerning admission?? I keep running out to the mailbox because I want to get the letter...the apps were due back on Feb. 1st...so its been over a month!

Hello everyone,

I am new to this website, but I have been reading all of the post and everyone seems to be really helpful. I wanted to ask about umsl accelerated nursing program. I am applying and I have an overall GPA of 3.5 and my science GPA is a 3.7. Is that competitive enough to get into the accelerated nursing program? Thanks for the help.

It should be the key would be to make the early admissions deadline which if memory serves me correct, is in Sept. of every year for the following may class. I started last month.... its not pretty but its doable. We actually have less students than we have seats this year, so even if you dont get in with regular admissions its still very possible that youll make it in. I think 5 or 6 of my classmates were called like a week or two before the program started. There were more offered to fill all of our seats but for some it was just too little time to get prepared so STAY prepared if at all possible :)
