USM Nursing School

Has anyone attended USM's nursing program. How is the board passing rate? Also, what are the things you enjoyed or disliked about the program all together? What are the things you suggest for new students in the nursing program. Any advice or opinions will be greatly appreciated! Also, if you didn't attend nursing school at USM, let me know how friends/relatives, who attended their program, felt about the school. :rcgtku:

Graduated in 2005. No problems for me passing boards. I don't know the pass rate but one of the instructors would be able to tell you. My suggesting for being successful, at least on the tests, go and by an NCLEX study book, one that has large sections of questions. When you are about to have a test on specific body system go through the questions and answer them. Then go back and read the rationales to all the questions regardless if you got them right or not. All tests are geared to passing the NCLEX so you need to make yourself as familiar as possible with this testing style. Practicing the testing style is almost as important as the content. if you are already in, keep your head down, don't talk too much in class. study every day. memorize lab values. if you are not in the usm program already, don't do it. go to JD and get a great education, great instruction, and pay 1/4 what you pay at USM.

Thanks for your information. No, I didn't get in, and I'm kind of glad because I didn't want to move down to Hattiesburg. Also, I don't think it is the right time for me to do nursing school anyway. Anyway, thanks! :)

I'm going to apply at another school for this Fall 2009, and I think this is a better timing for me to do nursing school. Anyway, thanks so much everyone for your valuable information.

Well, I know this is an old thread but I got accepted into nursing school at MCC. I'm still debating if I should do it or not. My concerns is being able to pay my bills, afford a nice apartment, working while in school to be self sufficient, and still finding time to study. Any advice would be appreciated. I asked this question in another thread I started. Any advice on what you did to support yourself while in school and still being able to study would be great!
