Normandale Community College pre-nursing

U.S.A. Minnesota

Published

Hi, I'm currently enrolled in Normandale comm. college and I'm doing my pre-requisites for the nursing program.

1.I'm wondering, is there anyone (especially in Normandale) who recently took the TEAS exam

2. Is there who is going to get in the MANE curriculum by fall of 2015? anyone also taking the pre-requisites?

3.Also, I know that after the RN licensure, we finish the BSN under Metropolitan State University, is it well known for nursing? or do employers not care?

4. Do the MANE credits transfer if I wanted to go to another school instead of metro, like Bethel university to finish up my BSN?

Thanks

Yes I took the TEAS for all the MANE schools. 2. We all find out if we are accepted for fall 2014 on March 15. 3. I don't know about metropolitan state university but my understanding is employers don't care as long as it's BSN. 4. As long as you have your RN license meaning you finish the associates at the community college you can apply to any Rn to BSN program. Good luck!

I'm applying to NHCC, but I'm not sure if that matters much. On NHCC's website, it states:

The Associate of Science in Nursing is designed to articulate to:

Bethel University B.S.N. in Nursing degree

Metropolitan State University B.S.N. in Nursing degree

Kaplan University B.S.N. in Nursing degree

- See more at: Nursing Program Standard Option AS- Nursing - NHCC.edu

But, it really shouldn't matter where you go to get your BSN, even if you chose somewhere else.

Are you done with your pre requisites? I get done with my pre requirements the spring semester of the year I'm supposed to start the Mane curriculum. I know they want grades posted even tho the application is in February. So how will I be evaluated on my prerequisites when I won't be done till May of 2015?

So is the associates in nursing different from the MANE curriculum?

The MANE curriculum is for an Associates Degree in Nursing. With the MANE program, after you complete that and pass the NCLEX, you can either take a year off and work as an RN then go back to Metro State to get your BSN, or you can just go straight through to Metro State. Its another 3 semesters at Metro State to get your BSN. Admittance into the MANE program means you're automatically admitted into Metro States BSN program.

Are you also going to metro state? Or elsewhere like bethel.

I've applied to North Hennepin Community College and Inver Hills for the MANE program and I'm awaiting a response.

With the MANE program, you just have to complete the first semester of classes in order to apply (there are other requirements, but these are the classes you have to have done):

ENGC 1101 Freshman Composition

CHEM 1050 Foundations of Organic and Biochemistry

BIOL 2041 Anatomy

Elective credits one, Goal 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10

They have information session to help you navigate the requirements. You might want to check them out. It can be somewhat confusing.

Yes that's right, these are the only pre-reqs for that school (pre reqs vary slightly for each MANE school) that must be completed with grades posted before applying. The second semester pre reqs just need to be completed before starting nursing school.

on the MANE curriculum, it says we need a minimum of 2.75 GPA. is that the GPA cumulative for the first semester pre-requisites or the first year pre-requisites? Does that mean you can't get a 'C' in one? Or have to retake a course you had a 'C' in?

Throughout the entire MANE curriculum you must maintain a minimum of 2.75 and cannot get anything lower than a C in a class.
